Indoor Chicago Engagement Locations
Want to propose in Chicago but don’t want to deal with the ups and downs of the weather? Planning an indoor proposal or engagement session can take some of that stress away. This list contains our top indoor Chicago engagement locations.
Garfield Park Conservatory
The Garfield Park Conservatory is first on our list. It was opened in 1908 and is the nation’s largest conservatory. Its located in the Garfield Park Neighborhood of Chicago, west of downtown.
This location is great for indoor photos as it offers a variety of rooms and spaces. Some have benches for seated photos and other have various types of walkways and almost pedestal like sections which make for great photo spots.
One of the perks of this location is that it has a parking lot! If you know Chicago, you know how rare this is. It is also close to the Green line ‘L’ stop if you prefer not to drive.

300 N Central Park Ave, Chicago, IL 60624
Harold Washington Library
Our next location is in the heart of downtown Chicago’s Loop neighborhood. While the majority of the building is what you think of when you hear “library”, the 9th floor is built a little different. It has a space called the Winter Garden which is a very bright and airy room. The entire ceiling is a glass dome 52 feet above your head. There is also a wall of floor to ceiling windows overlooking Chicago’s Loop. With the spacious room and abundant natural light it makes a great location to escape Chicago’s cold winters (or summer heat depending on your weather preference) and take some gorgeous photos.
“Shhhh!” this is still a library. This area is open to the public and you will find people reading and studying so you will need to be respectful of this.

400 S. State Street Chicago, IL 60605
The Rookery
Our third location also in Chicago’s Loop neighborhood. This building was built in 1888 and is a Chicago landmark. You can tell it is a historic and beautiful building from the moment you step into the main atrium. The columns are made of marble with gold engravings and the staircase railings are made of wrought iron with very decorative patterns.
You may have seen this building before, it is known for its famous spiral staircase.

209 S La Salle St, Chicago, IL 60604
Lincoln Park Conservatory
The fourth location is north of downtown in Chicago’s Lincoln Park Neighborhood. The conservatory is located just north of the zoo and west of Lake Michigan. This conservatory is similar to the Garfield Park Conservatory as it has different rooms with various kinds of plants and flowers. It is smaller than the one in Garfield Park, however this location is within walking distance to a variety of restaurants and bars so you can grab some food or drinks after your successful proposal or engagement photo session.

2391 N Stockton Dr, Chicago, IL 60614
Chicago Cultural Center
Our final location is the Chicago Cultural Center. It is located in Chicago’s Loop neighborhood. The building is known for its two beath taking glass domes. One is located on the north end of the building and the other is on the south side. The cultural center also has a room on the north side of the building that has floor to ceiling windows. We are slightly biased and prefer the south side of the building on this one. It has the beautiful dome ceiling but also a beautiful marble staircase leading up to it.

78 E Washington St, Chicago, IL 60602
Most of these locations while beautiful, do require a photo permit. Planning ahead is a must if you want a successful day.
If you work with us we are happy to secure the permit for you. The less things you have to worry about the better.
